Welcome back to our Grade 4 Stars Wiki! We had an exciting two weeks preparing for our Summative Assessment for Sharing Our Planet: Water Problems.
On Monday, the students will be presenting their poster board presentations to me and their classmates. They have already presented to each other and to another class of students, so presenting to me will be their third time and then they will present them to you parents on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have all the students signed up so please come and listen to them on their designated day. You are welcome to come any of the other days also to hear the other student presentations. Thank you to those that have already listened to them at home! You will notice the schedule above. Please come if you have the opportunity.
On Friday, we will complete our unit by going to Aqua Park to see how the water is cleaned beneath the pool. You are welcome to come along and see what we will learn about. The tour is in Polish, so we are grateful that Mrs. Dixon is going to come along and translate for us! After the tour, the students will get to swim for an hour. Both Mrs. Dixon and I will be at the pool but you are welcome to come inside also!
When we leave Aqua Park, we will be eating lunch in the grass if the weather is nice, or head straight over to Zielinskiego Campus and eat lunch inside if it's raining. Please pack a picnic lunch and don't order food on Friday! Friday is our "Mother Tongue and Book Week" celebration with an assembly at Z Campus. We will have a very special presentation by the men of our school due to the fact that all our students read an incredible amount of books back in January! After the assembly, we will hop on the buses and come back to Beyzyma Campus for you to pick them up on time.
Our most recent spelling lesson is on the ending "ed" sounds. There are three types of sounds when words end in "ed" which are "t", "ed", and "d." It's important to HEAR the sounds and realize the words all end in "ed." Their spelling test will include being able to pick which sound the ending is when they spell the word correctly.
Everyone brought home their most recent math test for you to sign. If you have seen them and have signed it, please send the test back to school for our records. Our current unit is on finding area and perimeter of quadrangles and triangles. We will also work on dividing with decimals. This way, the students can turn all fractions into a decimal and/or into a percent. It's a fun unit because the students seem to enjoy any type of geometry.
IF you are not able to come to our Unit 5 presentations, please don't worry! I will be recording them during that time, so don't hesitate to ask to see it!
Thank you for your continued support!
